Frequently Asked Questions
How do I join the church?
Mount Zion Baptist Church is committed to winning souls for Christ. Full membership requires completion of the following steps:
1. Publicly join with our congregation during one of our two Sunday morning services (7:30 and 10:45 a.m.), or Wednesday night prayer meeting (7 p.m.). This public acknowledgment may be confirmed through Baptism, Christian Experience or by Letter of transfer from a sister congregation.
2. Completion of a series of New Members Classes.
3. Baptism by full immersion (if you have not already been baptized)
4. Receipt of the “Right Hand of Fellowship”.
Do you offer wedding services?
The joining of two lives through marriage pleases God. A wedding is a beautiful ceremony and celebration of vows stated in the presence of God and a community comprised of family and friends.
Mount Zion seeks to help make your wedding a beautiful affair. Our wedding coordinator, Lilna Givan-Williams, can be reached at (206) 322-6500.
Is there a dress code?
There is no written rule book, but church behavior is rooted in common sense. We encourage all to dress as if you’re going to meet with someone important — and there is no one more important than God.
Are there scholarship offerings for students?
The Mount Zion Scholarship Ministry brings in more funds than any other church in the National Baptist Convention, USA-Inc..
You’ll find more information and application forms on the Scholarship Ministry page.
