Year Founded:

The Helping House is a volunteer outreach organization whose purpose is to help people in need by providing clothing, toiletries, and small household items to men, women, and children throughout the community.

The Helping House ministry was formed to provide clothing and other goods for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. This ministry continues to spread God’s word through the gift of giving to assist the hurricane victims and all families/individuals in need.
The Helping House is open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for collection and distribution, or by appointment.
This ministry also seeks to strengthen outreach and collaborate with other ministries of the church to better meet church and community needs. Via a bulletin board located on site and notices in Messenger and Zionews , the Helping House also facilitates exchanges of household furnishings. The Helping House is located at 1604 – 19th Avenue, next to the church parking lot. Deacon Leslyn Jones Petitt and Deacon Jerry Randall are the Helping House contact persons.
