Meet our guest preacher

Rev. Dr. Michael Eric Dyson

Rev. Dr. Michael Eric Dyson is a scholar, author, ordained Baptist minister, and media commentator whose work has helped shape national conversations about race, culture, faith, and public life. Across the pulpit, the classroom, and the written page, he brings complex questions of justice and American history into conversation with diverse audiences.

Scholarship rooted in inquiry

Dr. Dyson holds a Ph.D. in Religion from Princeton University. At Vanderbilt University, his appointments include Distinguished University Professor of African American and Diaspora Studies, Distinguished University Professor of Ethics and Society, and the NEH Centennial Chair.

His teaching career has included Brown, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Columbia, DePaul, the University of Pennsylvania, and Georgetown University.
