Reverend Charles
Reginald Johnson, Sr.
Rooted in faith.
Committed to people.
Pastor Johnson brings a heart for the Gospel, prayer, and service to Mount Zion. Elected by the congregation in March 2026, he previously served for sixteen years as Senior Pastor of Cochran Avenue Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Together with his wife, Virna L. Johnson—affectionately known as First Lady V—he continues a shared calling to ministry and community.

We’ve done this before.
In November 1961, the Brotherhood of Mount Zion Baptist Church brought the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Seattle as the guest speaker for its Third Annual Lecture Series. It would be his only visit to our city.
Sixty-five years later, the Brotherhood is carrying that tradition forward.

Set aside 15 minutes each day for each practice: prayer, Bible study, meditation, and thanksgiving.
- November 1–7: reflect on three major issues.

November 29: Advent begins with the lighting of the Hope Candle.
October: a month of consecration
Week 4 · October 25–31: Prayer, meditation and thanksgiving at home. Devote 45 minutes each day: 15 minutes for each practice.
